Genshin Impact Version 7.2 has arrived, bringing Mitya, a new five star Electro Catalyst character who specializes in the Stellar-Conduct reaction. Whether you want to use him as your primary damage dealer or an off field support, Mitya offers plenty of flexibility. However, his unusual mechanics and Elemental Mastery scaling mean that his best build is a little different from what players might expect from a traditional Electro DPS.
Unlike many damage dealers who primarily rely on ATK, Mitya’s damage and team contributions are closely tied to Elemental Mastery. He can also switch between two different combat roles through his Elemental Skill, allowing him to adapt to different team compositions.
If you’re planning to add him to your roster, here’s how to build Mitya, including his best weapons, artifact sets, recommended stats, talent priorities, and team compositions.
Mitya Character Overview
Mitya is a five star Electro character who uses a Catalyst. His primary focus is the Stellar-Conduct reaction, which replaces Superconduct when he is included in the party. This allows him to turn a traditionally Cryo and Physical focused reaction into another source of Electro oriented damage.
His Elemental Skill determines how he performs in combat. Tapping the Skill creates a Detection Core in its Steady State, allowing Mitya to provide off field damage and support his teammates. Holding the Skill puts him into his Overloaded mode, allowing him to remain on the field and consume Gradient Beacons through enhanced Charged Attacks.
These Gradient Beacons are central to his kit. They help maintain the Polestar Field, provide additional team benefits, and contribute to Mitya’s damage. His Elemental Burst can also generate additional Beacons, allowing him to continue his damage sequence.
The most important thing to remember is that Mitya scales heavily with Elemental Mastery. Building him around ATK alone will not take full advantage of his kit.
Best Weapons for Mitya
Mitya benefits most from weapons that provide CRIT stats and Elemental Mastery. His signature Catalyst is the strongest option for his personal damage, but several other weapons can work depending on whether you intend to use him as an on field DPS or an off field support.
Best Overall: Starsealed Edict
Starsealed Edict is Mitya’s signature weapon and his best overall option for personal damage.
It provides a substantial CRIT DMG secondary stat, reaching 88.2% at Level 90. Its passive also increases Elemental Mastery after Mitya uses his Elemental Skill. Additional Elemental Mastery can be gained when nearby party members trigger Elemental Reactions.
When Mitya enters Radiance: Stellar-Conduct, the weapon also increases his Stellar-Conduct CRIT DMG through its passive stacks.
This weapon works particularly well with his on field playstyle because it improves both his offensive stats and reaction damage. It remains a strong option for off field Mitya as well, although a support focused weapon may provide greater overall team value in certain compositions.
Best Four Star Option: Dawning Frost
Dawning Frost is one of Mitya’s strongest four star options, especially for players who want to improve his personal damage without pulling for his signature weapon.
The weapon provides CRIT DMG and increases Elemental Mastery after Mitya hits opponents with his Charged Attacks or Elemental Skill. Since both abilities are important to his on field playstyle, he can make good use of its passive.
At higher refinements, Dawning Frost becomes particularly competitive and can approach the performance of his signature weapon.
Other Recommended Weapons
| Weapon | Rarity | Why It’s Good |
|---|---|---|
| Winter’s Heavy Heart | 4-Star | Provides CRIT DMG and Elemental Mastery benefits, especially in teams with Cryo and Electro characters. |
| Sunny Morning Sleep-In | 5-Star | Offers a substantial amount of Elemental Mastery through its secondary stat and passive. |
| A Thousand Floating Dreams | 5-Star | Provides Elemental Mastery for Mitya and additional support for teammates. |
| Wandering Evenstar | 4-Star | Excellent off field option that converts Elemental Mastery into an ATK buff for nearby teammates. |
| Etherlight Spindlelute | 4-Star | Provides Energy Recharge and Elemental Mastery, making it a comfortable option for on field rotations. |
| The Widsith | 4-Star | Offers CRIT DMG and a potentially powerful Elemental Mastery buff, although its passive is inconsistent. |
For players who already own Etherlight Spindlelute from its previous event, it is worth keeping as an option. Its Energy Recharge secondary stat helps Mitya maintain his Elemental Burst, while its passive provides additional Elemental Mastery.
If you are primarily using Mitya as an off field support, Wandering Evenstar is worth considering. It provides Elemental Mastery while also converting part of that stat into an ATK buff for the rest of the team.
Best Artifacts for Mitya
Mitya’s artifact selection depends on his role, but Elemental Mastery should remain a major priority for both builds.
There is some variation between current build recommendations regarding his strongest artifact set. Some guides favor the dedicated Stellar-Conduct set for his personal damage, while others recommend combining two Elemental Mastery sets because of his scaling and the number of Electro characters commonly used in his teams.
Best General Option: Two Elemental Mastery Sets
Combining two different artifact sets that each provide an 80-point Elemental Mastery bonus gives Mitya 160 additional Elemental Mastery.
This is an excellent general option because it works in both on field and off field compositions. It is also relatively easy to customize, allowing you to prioritize CRIT and Energy Recharge through artifact substats.
For many of his multi-Electro teams, this combination is particularly effective.
Alternative: Disenchantment in Deep Shadow
Disenchantment in Deep Shadow is another strong option, especially when you want to improve Mitya’s personal Stellar-Conduct damage.
Its four piece bonus increases Superconduct and Stellar-Conduct Reaction DMG. It also provides additional CRIT Rate against opponents affected by those reactions.
Although its two piece ATK bonus is not particularly useful to Mitya, the four piece effect can make up for that when building him around personal damage.
This set is worth using if you already have strong pieces. However, keep in mind that its CRIT Rate bonus needs to be considered when balancing his artifact stats.
Alternative: Gilded Dreams
Gilded Dreams is another viable choice because its two piece bonus provides Elemental Mastery.
Its four piece effect grants additional stats depending on the elemental types of other party members. However, this can make it less effective in Mitya’s common multi-Electro teams, where teammates of the same element provide ATK rather than Elemental Mastery.
For that reason, combining two Elemental Mastery two piece sets can be more consistent.
Artifact Main Stats
For an on field DPS build, the recommended artifact main stats are:
| Artifact | Main Stat |
|---|---|
| Sands of Eon | Elemental Mastery |
| Goblet of Eonothem | Elemental Mastery |
| Circlet of Logos | CRIT Rate or CRIT DMG |
For an off field support build, you can use the same general setup, but an Elemental Mastery Circlet becomes more attractive if you want to maximize his reaction damage and team support.
Recommended Substats:
- CRIT Rate
- CRIT DMG
- Elemental Mastery
- Energy Recharge
Energy Recharge becomes more important when you intend to use his Elemental Burst regularly. If you are playing him as an off field support and rarely use his Burst, you can focus more heavily on Elemental Mastery and CRIT.
One important detail is that Mitya can gain up to 20% CRIT Rate through his combat passive. Avoid overinvesting in CRIT Rate, especially when using Disenchantment in Deep Shadow, which provides another CRIT Rate bonus.
Recommended Stats for Mitya
Your final stat goals will depend on his weapon, artifact set, and team composition. However, the following are useful general targets for an on field Mitya:
| Stat | Recommended Target |
|---|---|
| Elemental Mastery | 500–600 |
| CRIT Rate | 60–70% |
| CRIT DMG | 155–180% |
| Energy Recharge | Around 120–165% |
These are approximate targets rather than strict requirements. Energy Recharge is especially dependent on the team and rotation. A build using Etherlight Spindlelute may want more Energy Recharge than one using a CRIT focused weapon.
Remember to account for Mitya’s passive CRIT Rate when checking his final stats. He can gain up to 20% CRIT Rate during combat, so a character screen value around 60–70% is already a strong starting point.
Mitya Talent Priority
Mitya’s talent priorities change depending on which version of his Elemental Skill you use.
On Field DPS Build
Normal Attack: Chain Reaction > Elemental Burst: Analysis: Gradient Theory > Elemental Skill: Principle: Variable Detection
Most of Mitya’s on field damage comes from his enhanced Charged Attacks. Therefore, his Normal Attack talent should receive the most investment.
His Elemental Burst is also worth upgrading because it helps generate additional Gradient Beacons and contributes to his damage rotation. His Elemental Skill is generally the lowest priority for personal damage.
Off Field Support Build
Elemental Skill: Principle: Variable Detection > Elemental Burst: Analysis: Gradient Theory > Normal Attack: Chain Reaction
When used as an off field support, Mitya relies primarily on his Elemental Skill for damage and team utility.
His Normal Attack talent can be left at a lower level because he will spend most of the rotation off the field. His Burst is also less important if you are not using it regularly.
Best Mitya Team Compositions
Mitya is designed to work with Stellar-Conduct teams, making Cryo characters and other Electro characters particularly valuable. His flexible Skill allows him to either occupy the main DPS position or support another character from off the field.
Here are several team compositions worth considering.
1. Premium On Field Mitya Team
Mitya + Odette + Yae Miko + Valeriy
This is one of the strongest on field compositions for Mitya.
Odette helps enable and improve Stellar-Conduct damage, while Yae Miko contributes additional Electro damage and Energy generation. Valeriy provides shielding and additional support, helping Mitya remain on the field without being interrupted.
Valeriy is particularly valuable at C6, where his damage contribution becomes more competitive. If you have access to these characters, this is a strong team to build around Mitya’s on field playstyle.
2. On-field Mitya with Sucrose
Mitya + Odette + Yae Miko + Sucrose
This is another strong option for players who want to increase Mitya’s damage through additional Elemental Mastery and enemy resistance reduction.
Sucrose provides Elemental Mastery buffs and can equip the Viridescent Venerer artifact set to reduce enemy Electro RES. Yae Miko contributes off field damage, while Odette supports the team’s Stellar-Conduct reactions.
The main disadvantage is that this team does not provide the same defensive utility as the Valeriy version. You may need to play more carefully, especially when Mitya is spending extended periods on the field.
3. Off Field Mitya with Sandrone
Sandrone + Mitya + Odette + Yae Miko
If you already have Sandrone built, Mitya can take on an off field role instead.
In this composition, Sandrone remains the primary damage dealer while Mitya provides Electro application and Stellar-Conduct damage through his Tap Skill. Odette supports the reaction, and Yae Miko adds another source of off field Electro damage.
This is a good way to use Mitya without changing your entire team around him.
4. Cyno Stellar-Conduct Team
Cyno + Mitya + Odette + Valeriy
Mitya can also work alongside Cyno as an off field damage dealer and reaction support.
Cyno remains on the field while Mitya uses his Tap Skill to provide additional Electro application and Stellar-Conduct damage. Odette improves the team’s reaction damage, while Valeriy provides shielding and additional support.
The three Electro characters also benefit from Electro Resonance, helping with Energy generation.
5. More Accessible Team
Mitya + Fischl + Diona + Sucrose
For players who do not have access to all the premium characters, this is a more accessible alternative.
Fischl provides consistent off field Electro damage and Energy generation. Diona offers Cryo application, healing, and shielding, while Sucrose provides Elemental Mastery buffs and Electro RES reduction through Viridescent Venerer.
This composition gives Mitya the support he needs to contribute Stellar-Conduct damage without requiring several limited five star characters.
How to Play Mitya
Mitya’s combat rotation is relatively straightforward once you understand how his two Elemental Skill modes work.
On Field Rotation
When using Mitya as your main DPS, you want to build up Gradient Beacons through Stellar-Conduct reactions and consume them with his enhanced Charged Attacks.
A basic rotation looks like this:
- Use your support characters’ abilities to establish the necessary elemental effects and trigger Stellar-Conduct.
- Switch to Mitya and hold his Elemental Skill to enter Overloaded mode.
- Use his enhanced Charged Attacks to consume the available Gradient Beacons.
- Use his Elemental Burst to generate additional Beacons.
- Continue using enhanced Charged Attacks to deal damage.
The key is to make sure your teammates are triggering Stellar-Conduct while Mitya is active. This allows him to generate the resources needed for his enhanced attacks.
Off Field Rotation
When using Mitya as a support, the process is much simpler.
- Apply the necessary elemental effects with your other characters.
- Switch to Mitya and tap his Elemental Skill.
- Allow his Detection Core to remain active and generate Gradient Beacons.
- Switch to your primary damage dealer and continue your rotation.
In this role, Mitya provides additional reaction damage and Elemental Mastery support without requiring much field time.
His Elemental Burst is generally less important in the off field playstyle, so you do not need to force it into every rotation.
Mitya Ascension Materials
If you have already obtained Mitya, you will want to start farming his ascension and talent materials as soon as possible.
For his Level 90 ascension, you will need the following:
| Material | Required Amount |
|---|---|
| Vajrada Amethyst Sliver | 1 |
| Vajrada Amethyst Fragment | 9 |
| Vajrada Amethyst Chunk | 9 |
| Vajrada Amethyst Gemstone | 6 |
| Crystalfold | 168 |
| Shattered Stabilizing Anchor | 46 |
| Chimeric Core | 18 |
| Symbiotic Chimeric Nucleus | 30 |
| Prime Chimeric Nexus | 36 |
| Mora | 420,000 |
You can obtain the Vajrada Amethyst materials from Electro related bosses and other sources. The Chimeric materials are dropped by Chimeric enemies throughout Snezhnaya, while Crystalfold is a regional specialty.
The Shattered Stabilizing Anchor comes from the Wavebinder world boss in the Kresnik Kristall area.
For his talent upgrades, Mitya uses the Charity talent book series. These materials can be farmed from the Relics of the Fallen Grace domain on Monday, Thursday, and Sunday. He also requires Mask of the Virtuous Doctor from the Heretic of the False Moon weekly boss.
If you are planning to crown all three talents, remember to prepare three Crowns of Insight and the additional Mora required.
Final Thoughts
Mitya is an interesting addition to Genshin Impact because he offers two distinct playstyles without requiring players to build two completely different characters. His ability to function as either an on field DPS or an off field support makes him a flexible option for players who already have established Stellar-Conduct teams.
For his main DPS build, prioritize Starsealed Edict, Elemental Mastery focused artifacts, and CRIT stats. If you do not have his signature weapon, Dawning Frost and Etherlight Spindlelute are worthwhile alternatives.
For his support build, consider Wandering Evenstar and an artifact setup that improves his Elemental Mastery or provides additional team utility.
Ultimately, Mitya’s biggest strength is his flexibility. Whether you want to build a team around his enhanced Charged Attacks or use him to support another Stellar-Conduct damage dealer, understanding his Elemental Skill modes will make a significant difference.
