Pearl has officially arrived in Honkai: Star Rail Version 4.6, and she is already proving to be one of the most important additions to the Elation archetype. As a five-star Ice character on the Path of Elation, Pearl combines powerful team sustain with buffs specifically designed to make Elation teams stronger.
Unlike a traditional damage dealer, Pearl’s primary job is not to maximize her own damage. Her kit revolves around DEF, healing, damage reduction, Effect RES, Energy regeneration, and Elation support. She can protect allies, heal the team, cleanse debuffs, advance an ally’s action, and, in a full Elation team, even give that character an additional turn.
That makes building Pearl relatively straightforward once you understand what her kit wants. Prioritize DEF and Speed, make sure she reaches enough Effect RES, and give her enough Energy Regeneration to use her Ultimate consistently.
Here is how to build Pearl for Version 4.6.
Understanding Pearl’s Role
Pearl is essentially an Elation sustain and support. Her Talent allows her to convert her Certified Banger resource into Repellency, which lets her absorb 60% of damage taken by allies. When an ally falls to 50% HP or lower, Pearl also provides additional damage reduction.
Her Skill provides healing based on her DEF while also generating Certified Banger. Her Enhanced Basic Attack can heal the entire team, and Pearl’s Major Traces allow her to cleanse debuffs while increasing the team’s Effect RES.
The most important part of her kit, however, is her Ultimate.
Pearl’s Ultimate applies Deep Learning to a selected ally and makes that character the Aesthetic Archetype. The amount of Elation characters on the team determines how much Pearl advances that ally’s action. With four or more Elation characters, the selected ally receives both a 30% action advance and an extra turn.
This is why Pearl is particularly powerful in a dedicated Elation composition.
Pearl’s Best Light Cone
Pearl’s signature Light Cone, Colors for Tomorrow, is her best overall option.
The Light Cone gives Pearl a massive 48% DEF increase at Superimposition 1. Whenever she uses her Elation Skill on the team, it also increases the damage enemies take by 22% for three turns, regenerates 10 Energy, and restores HP to all allies based on Pearl’s DEF.
Every part of this effect is useful for Pearl. The DEF improves her healing and defensive capabilities, while the additional Energy helps her reach her extremely important Ultimate more frequently. The enemy damage vulnerability also gives the entire team additional offensive value.
For a fully optimized Pearl, Colors for Tomorrow is the Light Cone to aim for.
Best Alternatives
If you do not have her signature, When She Decided to See is an excellent alternative because it provides Speed and teamwide CRIT support while also helping Pearl’s Energy economy.
Until the Flowers Bloom Again is another strong five-star option. It improves Pearl’s Energy Regeneration and increases the damage enemies take.
For a more accessible option, Mushy Shroomy’s Adventures is a strong four-star choice, particularly for players building a dedicated Elation team.
Best Relic Set
Pearl’s best four-piece Relic set is Dreamlit Actor.
The set works especially well when Pearl uses her Ultimate on the team’s primary damage dealer. It can increase the target’s Elation and also provides useful teamwide offensive value through CRIT DMG.
This makes the set particularly attractive in a full Elation team, where Pearl can consistently take advantage of its support effects.
If you do not have a good Dreamlit Actor set, Diviner of Distant Reach and Warrior Goddess of Sun and Thunder can serve as alternatives depending on what the rest of your team is already using. Eagle of Twilight Line is another option for players who want to focus on getting Pearl’s Ultimate back as quickly as possible.
Best Planar Ornament
For Pearl’s Planar Ornament, Broken Keel is the best general choice.
The set works particularly well because Pearl already has access to significant Effect RES through her Traces. Broken Keel can therefore help her meet its Effect RES requirement while providing additional CRIT DMG to the team.
Sprightly Vonwacq is the primary alternative. It can help Pearl act earlier while also improving her Energy economy, making it a particularly comfortable choice if you are having trouble maintaining her Ultimate rotation.
Pearl’s Best Main Stats
Pearl’s main stats are straightforward:
Body: Outgoing Healing%
Feet: SPD
Planar Sphere: DEF%
Link Rope: Energy Regeneration Rate
This setup focuses on everything Pearl actually needs to perform her job.
Her Body should use Outgoing Healing because Pearl is primarily a sustain. SPD on her Boots allows her to cycle through turns faster, generate resources, and contribute to the team’s rotation. DEF% improves both her defensive scaling and healing, while Energy Regeneration helps her reach her Ultimate more consistently.
Pearl’s Substats
Your primary substat priority should be:
SPD > DEF% > Effect RES
Speed is particularly valuable because Pearl wants to take frequent turns and generate the resources needed for her Ultimate and Elation support.
DEF% is next because Pearl’s healing and several parts of her kit scale directly from DEF.
Effect RES is also extremely important. Pearl’s build should aim for around 50% Effect RES, which is enough to activate Broken Keel and works particularly well with her existing Trace bonuses.
You generally do not need to build Pearl like a traditional Ice damage dealer. Her own damage is secondary to her ability to sustain and amplify the rest of the team.
Recommended Pearl Stat Goals
A strong endgame Pearl should aim for approximately:
DEF: 3,500 to 4,500
SPD: 160 to 180
Effect RES: 50% or higher
These are practical targets rather than rigid requirements. A Pearl with slightly less DEF but significantly better Speed can still perform extremely well, especially if her Energy rotation is more comfortable.
One of Pearl’s Major Traces gives her additional benefits for reaching high DEF. Her Panoptic Vision Trace begins providing additional Elation once she reaches 2,400 DEF, with additional DEF further increasing the effect up to its built-in limit. It also converts part of that Elation into additional Outgoing Healing.
This makes stacking DEF particularly rewarding.
Trace Priority
Pearl’s Trace priority should be:
Elation Skill → Ultimate → Basic Attack → Skill → Talent
Her Elation Skill is extremely important because it provides additional Elation damage based on how many Elation characters are present on the team.
Her Ultimate is next because it controls Pearl’s most important support mechanic, Deep Learning, while also advancing her chosen ally and potentially giving them an additional turn.
Her Enhanced Basic Attack is also valuable because it provides team healing and can cleanse debuffs once Pearl has the appropriate Trace unlocked.
Pearl’s Skill remains useful for healing and Certified Banger generation, but it does not need to receive the same investment priority as her Elation Skill and Ultimate.
Pearl’s Deep Learning Mechanic
Understanding Deep Learning is the key to playing Pearl correctly.
When Pearl uses her Ultimate, she chooses another ally as the Aesthetic Archetype. Pearl then gains three charges of Deep Learning. Each time she uses an Enhanced Basic Attack, one charge is consumed.
The Enhanced Basic Attack changes depending on the character Pearl selected.
If the Aesthetic Archetype is not an Elation character, Pearl receives an enhanced AoE Basic Attack that also provides healing.
If the selected ally is an Elation character, Pearl gains access to Imagenate the Starry Night, which adds additional Elation damage calculated using the Aesthetic Archetype’s offensive stats.
This is another reason to use Pearl alongside Elation characters. She does not need to become a damage dealer herself because she can effectively borrow the offensive power of the ally she is supporting.
How to Use Pearl’s Ultimate
Pearl’s Ultimate should generally be directed toward your primary Elation damage dealer.
The number of Elation characters in your team matters enormously.
With one Elation character, Pearl provides a 10% action advance. With two, that increases to 15%. With three, the action advance reaches 30%.
With four Elation characters, the selected ally receives the 30% action advance and an additional turn. At the beginning of that extra turn, the ally receives temporary Certified Banger and Punchline resources that are removed afterward.
Because these effects stack, a full Elation team is where Pearl reaches her maximum potential.
Pearl’s Best Team
The strongest way to use Pearl is in a dedicated Elation team.
A current example is:
Silver Wolf Lv. 999 + Yao Guang + Elation Trailblazer + Pearl
This composition gives Pearl multiple Elation allies to support while allowing her Ultimate and Elation Skill to reach their strongest effects. Beebom currently lists this as its primary Pearl team.
Pearl can designate the team’s primary damage dealer as her Aesthetic Archetype, allowing that character to receive her action advance and, with four Elation characters, an additional turn.
This is where Pearl’s value goes far beyond simple healing.
Pearl With Sparxie
Sparxie + Yao Guang + Elation Trailblazer + Pearl is another strong option.
Sparxie can take advantage of Pearl’s sustain while maintaining the Elation structure around her. Prydwen also identifies Pearl as a strong sustain option for Sparxie teams.
This gives players some flexibility if Silver Wolf Lv. 999 is being used elsewhere.
Pearl With Aventurine Waveflair
Pearl can also be paired with Aventurine Waveflair in an Elation focused composition.
A possible team is:
Aventurine Waveflair + Mortenax Blade + Ashveil + Pearl
This is less strictly focused on maximizing Pearl’s mono-Elation mechanics, but it demonstrates how her sustain and support abilities can be incorporated into other Planarcadia compositions.
Pearl’s Major Traces
Pearl’s Major Traces are another reason she wants a high DEF and Effect RES build.
Panoptic Vision rewards Pearl for reaching 2,400 DEF and further increases her Elation as her DEF rises.
Sensory Latitude gives all allies 50% Effect RES while Pearl has Certified Banger. It also allows Pearl to gain Certified Banger when allies begin their turns and lets her Enhanced Basic Attack or Skill cleanse one debuff from the entire team.
Aesthetic Firewall significantly improves Pearl’s Energy economy when her Aesthetic Archetype is an Elation character. After Pearl enters combat and uses her Ultimate, the next Ultimate from that Elation ally can regenerate 90 Energy for Pearl.
Together, these Traces explain why Pearl benefits so much from DEF, Speed, Effect RES, and Energy Regeneration.
Common Pearl Build Mistakes
The biggest mistake is building Pearl like a damage dealer.
While Pearl can deal respectable damage, her value comes primarily from sustaining and empowering the team. Her Enhanced Basic Attack can even use the offensive stats of her Aesthetic Archetype for its additional Elation damage, meaning you do not need to sacrifice her defensive stats simply to make her deal more damage.
Another mistake is ignoring Speed.
Pearl wants to take frequent turns because doing so helps her generate resources and maintain her support cycle. A slow Pearl can still survive, but she will generally feel much less comfortable to play.
Finally, do not underestimate the importance of running enough Elation characters. Pearl works outside of a full Elation team, but her biggest mechanics are clearly designed around the archetype. Prydwen notes that she requires four Elation characters to reach her maximum Ultimate effect.
Final Pearl Build
For a quick reference, this is the build to work toward:
Character: Pearl
Rarity: 5-Star
Element: Ice
Path: Elation
Role: Sustain / Support
Best Light Cone: Colors for Tomorrow
5-Star Alternative: When She Decided to See / Until the Flowers Bloom Again
4-Star Option: Mushy Shroomy’s Adventures
Best Relic Set: 4-Piece Dreamlit Actor
Relic Alternatives: Diviner of Distant Reach / Warrior Goddess of Sun and Thunder
Planar Ornament: Broken Keel
Planar Alternative: Sprightly Vonwacq
Body: Outgoing Healing%
Boots: SPD
Sphere: DEF%
Rope: Energy Regeneration Rate
Substats: SPD > DEF% > Effect RES
DEF Goal: 3,500 to 4,500
SPD Goal: 160 to 180
Effect RES Goal: 50%+
Trace Priority: Elation Skill → Ultimate → Basic Attack → Skill → Talent
Final Thoughts
Pearl is much more than another sustain character. Her arrival gives Elation teams the dedicated sustain they were missing, while simultaneously giving the archetype another layer of action manipulation, damage amplification, resource generation, cleansing, and survivability.
The most important thing when building her is to resist the temptation to chase personal damage. DEF, Speed, Effect RES, and Energy Regeneration are what make Pearl work. Her own damage can take a back seat because her Ultimate can borrow the offensive stats of her Aesthetic Archetype anyway.
For players committed to Elation, Pearl is especially valuable. Her Ultimate reaches its most dramatic effect when surrounded by four Elation characters, giving the selected ally a 30% action advance and an entire extra turn. That can dramatically change the flow of a battle.
If you have already pulled Pearl, start with Dreamlit Actor, Broken Keel, DEF%, Speed, and Energy Regeneration. Once she reaches roughly 3,500 to 4,500 DEF, 160+ Speed, and 50% Effect RES, you have a strong foundation for one of Version 4.6’s most important support characters.
