Wuthering Waves Version 3.6 is shaping up to be another major step forward for Kuro Games’ open-world action RPG. During the Version 3.6 Preview Special Broadcast on August 7, Kuro Games revealed two new 5-Star Resonators, new story content, a new area to explore, fresh gameplay systems, events, quality-of-life improvements, and significant performance upgrades.

Titled “Lamplight in Mirage, Sword’s Resolve in Heart,” Version 3.6 continues the story surrounding Mengzhou while introducing two highly anticipated characters, Qingxiao and Jingran. The update is scheduled to launch on August 20, 2026.

Here’s everything revealed during the livestream.

Qingxiao Takes Center Stage

The first major character revealed during the presentation was Qingxiao, a new 5-Star Aero Sword Resonator.

Qingxiao is one of the central additions to Version 3.6 and appears to be designed around the game’s newer combat mechanics, particularly the Tune Strain system.

Her gameplay showcase highlighted a highly mobile fighting style centered around sword techniques, aerial movement, and rapid attacks. One of the most eye-catching additions is her ability to fly through the environment using her sword, giving players another way to traverse Solaris-3.

Qingxiao’s signature weapon is the 5-Star Sword Glint of Clouds.

She will headline the first phase of the Version 3.6 character Convene alongside Denia.

Jingran Joins the Roster

The second new 5-Star Resonator coming in Version 3.6 is Jingran, a Fusion Broadblade user.

While Qingxiao focuses on the Aero element and Tune Strain-oriented gameplay, Jingran brings a very different combat style to the roster.

The livestream showcased Jingran wielding his massive Broadblade while using powerful attacks that appear to interact with shields. His animations emphasize heavy strikes and explosive Fusion damage, making him an appealing option for players looking for another powerful on-field DPS.

Jingran’s signature weapon is the 5-Star Broadblade Thousand Deliverance.

Jingran will appear during the second phase of Version 3.6 alongside reruns of Hiyuki and Mornye.

This gives players several important decisions to make, particularly for players interested in building teams around the game’s newer combat systems.

New Story Content Continues the Mengzhou Arc

Version 3.6 continues the ongoing Mengzhou storyline with additional main story content.

The livestream revealed Chapter IV Act III, “Song of the Heart Sword,” along with the Chapter IV Segue “The Nethermancer’s Requiem.”

The story continues investigating the mysteries surrounding Xuanfang Hold while introducing more information about the characters and conflicts connected to Mengzhou.

One of the major characters receiving additional attention is Hsin, whose presence has been teased throughout the game’s recent story developments.

Rather than simply introducing another isolated storyline, Version 3.6 appears to continue building the larger narrative that began with the game’s return to Huanglong.

A New Area: The Ren Realm

Version 3.6 expands the world with a new explorable area known as the Ren Realm.

The new location continues the visual direction established by the recent Mengzhou content, combining traditional Chinese-inspired architecture with the fantastical and post-apocalyptic elements that define Wuthering Waves.

Players will have new exploration objectives, enemies, collectibles, and story-related locations to discover throughout the area.

The expansion is particularly significant because exploration remains one of Wuthering Waves’ biggest strengths, and Version 3.6 continues Kuro Games’ strategy of expanding existing regions instead of constantly moving players to completely separate continents.

Sword Flight Changes Exploration

One of the most impressive gameplay additions shown during the livestream was Sword Flight.

The feature allows players to travel through the environment while riding a sword, giving exploration a completely new sense of verticality.

The system is particularly exciting because Wuthering Waves has always placed a strong emphasis on movement. Sprinting, wall-running, gliding, grappling, swimming, and other traversal mechanics already allow players to move around Solaris-3 quickly.

Sword Flight adds another layer to that philosophy.

The livestream also indicated that the feature is not simply a combat animation. It is designed as an exploration mechanic, allowing players to move through the new areas in a dramatically different way.

Guqin Performance Provides a More Relaxed Experience

Not everything in Version 3.6 revolves around combat.

Kuro Games also showcased a new casual activity involving Guqin performance.

The feature gives players a chance to interact with the game’s musical side and provides something different from the usual combat and exploration loop. It is another example of Wuthering Waves expanding its collection of optional activities as the game continues to grow.

New Enemies

Version 3.6 will introduce several new enemies for players to battle.

The livestream showcased:

• Skywatch Lancer
• Jade Nether Serpent

These enemies are tied to the new content and provide additional combat challenges for players exploring the expanded region.

The Jade Nether Serpent in particular stands out as one of the update’s more intimidating encounters, continuing Kuro Games’ trend of creating visually distinctive bosses and elite enemies.

New Events Coming in Version 3.6

The update will also feature several events and limited-time activities.

Among the events announced during the livestream are:

• If Dreams Still Reverberate
• Tactical Hologram: Sparring
• Gifts of Drifting Mist

These activities will provide players with additional rewards and ways to earn resources during the update.

The return of Tactical Hologram: Sparring is particularly interesting for players who enjoy Wuthering Waves’ more challenging combat content.

New Character Accessories

Version 3.6 will also introduce cosmetic accessories for the two new Resonators.

Qingxiao receives the Cloudbloom accessory.

Jingran receives the Snowpaw accessory.

These additions give players another way to customize their characters beyond the standard outfits and weapon appearances.

Major Performance Improvements

One of the more unexpected announcements from the livestream was a significant focus on performance optimization.

Kuro Games revealed that Version 3.6 will introduce additional optimization work designed to improve the game’s performance across supported platforms.

The update will also add support for NVIDIA DLSS 4.5, providing compatible PC players with access to newer image reconstruction and performance technologies.

For a game as visually demanding as Wuthering Waves, these improvements could be just as important as the new characters and story content. Players have increasingly asked for performance improvements as the game’s world and visual fidelity have expanded, so the additional optimization is a welcome part of Version 3.6.

Improvements to the Expedition Motorbike

The livestream also highlighted an update to the Expedition Motorbike interface.

Players will be able to use new themed backgrounds within the motorbike display interface, providing another small customization option.

While this is a smaller addition compared with the new characters and exploration mechanics, it demonstrates Kuro Games’ continued attention to customization and presentation.

Important: The livestream codes are temporary. Players should redeem them as soon as possible because they are scheduled to expire on August 9, 2026.

What Version 3.6 Means for Wuthering Waves

Version 3.6 is an interesting update because Kuro Games is simultaneously expanding the game’s story, combat systems, exploration, and technical foundation.

Qingxiao appears to be particularly important for the game’s newer Tune Strain gameplay, while Jingran offers another powerful option for players looking for a Fusion-focused damage dealer.

Meanwhile, Sword Flight could become one of the update’s most memorable additions. Wuthering Waves has always differentiated itself through fast traversal, and giving players another way to move through the world could make exploration feel even more dynamic.

The performance improvements are equally important. As Wuthering Waves becomes larger and more visually ambitious, maintaining smooth performance across different platforms will be increasingly important.
