The Zenless Zone Zero Version 2.5 Special Program, titled “To Be Fuel for the Night,” aired on December 19, 2025, giving players a deep look at what’s coming with the game’s next big update. The livestream provided story context, new agents, quality-of-life improvements, events, and generous freebies to reward Proxies for their support. Version 2.5 is scheduled to go live on December 30, 2025 across all platforms, from PC to consoles and mobile.

Major New Agents Revealed

One of the biggest reveals of the livestream was two new S-Rank agents joining Zenless Zone Zero in Version 2.5:

• Ye Shunguang — A dual-form Void Hunter and the first of her kind in the game, wielding the Qingming Sword. She can enter an Enlightened Mind state to deal massive damage and unlock powerful ultimate effects.
• Zhao — An S-Rank Ice Defense agent who supports teammates by building Frostbite and applying buffs on entry and through her abilities. She also serves as the free S-Rank agent that all players will receive upon updating to Version 2.5.

In addition to these, the livestream confirmed the inclusion of Bangboo Sprout — a new Bangboo ally alongside Ye Shunguang.

Free Rewards for All Proxies

To celebrate the update and thank the community, HoYoverse announced several free in-game gifts related to Version 2.5:

• Free S-Rank agent Zhao available to every player.
• 1,000 Polychromes sent via in-game mail as a thank-you bonus.
• Jane Doe’s “Nocturne of Light” outfit available for free in the store during the Version 2.5 patch period.
• Livestream redemption code VOIDHUNTER1230 for 300 Polychromes and other rewards such as Senior Investigator Logs, W-Engine Energy Modules, and Denny.

Players were encouraged to redeem the code promptly, as it expires soon after the broadcast.

Story Progression and New Content

The livestream highlighted that Version 2.5 marks the culminating chapter of Season 2, advancing the Waifei Peninsula storyline with Chapter 6: “To Be Fuel for the Night.” This arc explores the fallout surrounding the Qingming Sword’s hidden power and the escalating Hollow threat.

Players will also get new areas, enemies, and challenges as part of this narrative push.

New Game Modes and Quality-of-Life Improvements

The Version 2.5 livestream confirmed several gameplay expansions and QoL features:

Multiplayer Combat

A limited-time co-op mode named Joint Investigation: The Divine Maze lets teams of three Proxies battle together.

Proxy Outposts

Proxy Outposts are community hubs where players can post commissions, accept tasks, and engage with other Proxies more socially and strategically.

Combat Simulation Sweep

New tools let Proxies quickly sweep Combat Simulation stages using Ether Batteries, saving time and easing farming.

Agent Enhancements

Several older agents – including Soldier 0, Ellen, Soldier 11, Grace, and Burnice – received refinements and performance upgrades through the Potential Vision system.

Signal Search and Banner Changes

The livestream also outlined banner structure updates for Version 2.5:

• Simultaneous limited banners for both new agents (Ye Shunguang and Zhao) will be available throughout the version.
• Exclusive Rescreening banner begins on January 21, 2026, permitting players to choose their first S-Rank agent (from a limited selection), with pity carrying into future cycles.

These changes aim to make pulling for desired agents more accessible and player-friendly.
