The Honkai Star Rail 3.8 update, titled “Memories are the Prelude to Dreams,” is now live for Trailblazers and brings a mix of story content, characters, events, shop updates, and quality-of-life changes that both new and veteran players will want to know about.

Release Schedule and Duration

Version 3.8 launched on December 17, 2025 (global), with maintenance beginning earlier depending on region.

Unlike standard patches, this update will run for around eight weeks, giving players extra time to enjoy its many features.

Story Focus: Penacony and Lost Memories

Version 3.8 shifts the Astral Express’s journey back to Penacony, the Land of Dreams, to explore untold mysteries and unresolved threads from earlier chapters of the game’s narrative.

New and Returning Characters

New 5★ Character

• The Dahlia (Constance): A 5-star Fire element, Nihility path character from the Annihilation Gang makes her playable debut at the start of 3.8.

Reruns Across Three Banner Phases

Version 3.8 is structured into three banner phases, each featuring different character reruns along with The Dahlia’s debut:

Phase 1 (Dec 16/17 – Jan 7)

• The Dahlia (new)
• Firefly (rerun)
• 4★: March 7th, Luka, Gallagher

Phase 2 (Jan 7 – Jan 28)

• Fugue (rerun)
• Lingsha (rerun)
• 4★: Natasha, Sampo, Arlan

Phase 3 (Jan 28 – Feb 12)

• Aglaea (rerun)
• Sunday (rerun)
• 4★: Dan Heng, Tingyun, Yukong

This makes for a total of six rerun characters plus The Dahlia’s debut in 3.8.

Story and Combat Additions

Finality Mission & New Penacony Map
A new Finality Mission and expanded Penacony exploration are available, giving players fresh narrative combat challenges and lore to uncover.

New Boss Encounter
Tougher enemies and battles await, testing team synergy and build optimization in exciting new encounters.

Events and Activities

Version 3.8 includes multiple limited-time events such as:

• The Chrysos Awoo Championship – A chimera-themed event where players team up with their own chimeras to compete.
• Remnants of Twilight – Offers strategic battles with richer rewards.

Nameless Honor and Contract Shop Updates

During Version 3.8, Nameless Honor gets a revamp with new rewards, including Stellar Jade, Special Passes, Light Cone options, and more.

The Contract Shop also introduces limited-time bundles using Oneiric Shards, letting players pick resources like Self Modeling Resins, Tears of Dreams, Relic Remains, and more in customizable packs.

Quality of Life and Balance Changes

Some updates touch base with gameplay mechanics as well, such as improvements to the Simulated Universe: Swarm Disaster mode, smoothing progression and balance to make encounters more consistent and enjoyable for players.

Compensation and Delay Bonuses

Due to the extended duration and development adjustments, all Trailblazers are receiving compensation including Stellar Jade and Fuel, mailed directly in-game as a thank-you for patience and support.
