HoYoverse just dropped the Version 2.2 livestream, titled Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night, on August 22, 2025. It was packed with new content, and if you missed it, look no further.

When It Happened

The livestream launched simultaneously worldwide: 6 AM (UTC–5) in North America, 12:30 PM in Europe, and 7:30 PM across Asia. Clocked in at around 34 minutes, it moved fast but packed a punch.

New Characters: The OBOL Squad Rolls In

Version 2.2 welcomes two new S-Rank Agents from the OBOL Squad:

• Seed (Electric Attacker) arrives in Phase 1 riding a hoverboard and later tags in a mech called Seed Sr. She boosts sustained Attack teams effortlessly.
• Orphie & Magus (Fire Attacker) come as a dynamic duo. Orphie applies Bottled Heat with her EX, granting the Zeroed-In buff that raises squad Attack and lets Aftershocks ignore part of enemy defense.

Phase 1 (Sept 4–24) stars Seed and a Trigger rerun. Phase 2 (Sept 24–Oct 14) brings Orphie & Magus plus an Evelyn rerun.

W-Engines, Bangboos, and Drive Discs

Fresh W-Engines drop with the updates:

• Cordis Germina for Seed
• Bellicose Blaze for Orphie & Magus

Two new Bangboos hit the Outstanding Partner pool:

• Mercury (S-Rank)
• Excaliboo (A-Rank): unlocked via the new event

New Drive Discs round it out:

• Dawn’s Bloom: Basic Attack DMG +15%, or +20% with SP/ULT use
• Moonlight Lullaby: Energy Regen +20%; team DMG +18% when Support triggers SP/ULT

Story, Quests, and Events

2.2 progresses Season 2 into Chapter 3 with the main arc Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night. Seed’s standalone Agent Story, Flora of the Blooming Valley, drops too.

Events include:

• Band of Brave Bangboos (tower defense style; rewards Excaliboo)
• Problem Soldier Boot Camp
• Spotlight Showdown
• Rhythm Rave
• En-Nah Treasure Hunt
• Wish Bottle Adrift
• Advanced Bounty: Routine Cleanup
• Data Bounty: Combat Simulation

When the Update Hits

All this drops globally on September 4, 2025, around 11 AM UTC+8. Phase 1 starts then with Seed and Trigger. Phase 2 follows on September 24 featuring Orphie & Magus and Evelyn.
