Sunday’s rerun is finally here and it’s your chance to grab one of the best support players in Honkai Star Rail. I’ve spent quality time theory-crafting with him, tuning relics, light cones, and teams. So, here’s everything you need to know to run him like a pro.

Why Sunday Stands Out

Sunday is a 5★ Imaginary Harmony character built for action bar support. His Skill gives any ally and their summon an immediate turn plus a serious damage boost. His Ultimate refills energy and turns the target into “The Beatified,” boosting Crit DMG for them and their summon for multiple turns. His Talent then adds Crit Rate on top. Best part: he’s SP‑neutral so he won’t mess with your rotation

Trace Priority and What to Max First

To ensure he performs, focus your Traces in this order:

  1. Skill (Benison of Paper and Rites)
  2. Ultimate (Ode to Caress and Cicatrix)
  3. Talent (The Sorrowing Body)
  4. Basic attack

Upgrading his Skill and Ultimate makes his buffs more powerful, more reliable, and more generous – and then his Talent is icing on the cake.

Best Light Cones

  • A Grounded Ascent (Signature)
    • Top pick. It gives Hymn stacks for extra DMG, restores SP after two buffs, and makes him SP positive on repeat cycles.
  • But the Battle Isnt Over
    • Great secondary. Offers energy regen, SP back after ult, and a one‑turn ally damage buff.
  • Earthly Escapade, Past and Future, Planetary Rendezvous
    • Other viable options depending on your rotation, buff synergy, or Imaginary team.

Relic and Planar Ornament Choices

Best Relic Set

  • Sacerdos Relived Ordeal (4‑piece)
    • Grants increased Speed and ally Crit DMG when you buff them. This is hands down the strongest build choice.

Secondary Relic Set

  • 2-piece Sacerdos + 2-piece Messenger Traversing Hackerspace
    • Slightly less optimal but still gives strong Speed and utility.

Best Planar Ornaments

  • Broken Keel
    • Grants Effect RES, and raises ally Crit DMG assuming you hold around 30% in Effect RES.
  • Lushaka the Sunken Seas
    • Gives energy regen and an early‑battle ATK buff to your carry when positioned first in line.
  • Sprightly Vonwacq
    • Boosts early action and energy regen; good utility but a step down from Broken Keel.

Stat Priority

  • Body: Crit DMG
  • Boots: Speed (tuned to be 1 SPD slower than your main DPS)
  • Sphere: HP% or DEF%
  • Link Rope: Energy Regen Rate

Sub-stats to aim for: Crit DMG (~200%), Speed breakpoint (one point behind DPS), at least ~50% Effect RES, plus healthy HP/DEF

Best Teams to Run with Sunday

Sunday’s value is all about enabling burst windows, boosting Crit stats, and rotating ultimates faster. He doesn’t just support any DPS, he’s especially strong when paired with characters that have summons, multi-hit ults, or Crit-scaling damage. Let’s talk about the best teams to run with him right now.

1. Phainon + Sunday + Bronya + Robin

  • Phainon (DPS): Coreflame burst damage dealer.
  • Sunday (Support): Provides energy regeneration and advances turns, enabling Phainon to use his Ultimate more frequently.
  • Bronya (Support): Offers additional turn advancement and buffs, enhancing Phainon’s damage output.
  • Robin (Support): Grants action forward to the team, allowing Phainon to act sooner and accumulate Coreflame stacks efficiently.

This composition ensures Phainon can rapidly accumulate Coreflame stacks and unleash his Ultimate with high frequency, maximizing his damage potential.

2. Phainon + Sunday + Remembrance Trailblazer + Cipher

  • Phainon (DPS): Main damage dealer utilizing Coreflame mechanics.
  • Sunday (Support): Advances turns and provides energy regeneration, facilitating Phainon’s skill usage.
  • Remembrance Trailblazer (Support): Applies True Damage buffs and grants action forward, enhancing Phainon’s damage and Coreflame accumulation.
  • Cipher (Sub-DPS): Debuffs enemies and serves as a secondary damage source, complementing Phainon’s attacks.

This setup offers a balanced approach, with Remembrance Trailblazer and Cipher providing buffs and debuffs to optimize Phainon’s performance.

3. Jing Yuan + Sunday + Robin + Huohuo

  • Jing Yuan (DPS): Lightning Lord main damage dealer.
  • Sunday (Support): Advances turns and regenerates energy for continuous DPS.
  • Robin (Support): Buffs and energy support.
  • Huohuo (Healer): Healing and energy regen.

Great synergy for fast-paced DPS cycling.

3. Blade + Sunday + Bronya + Luocha

  • Blade (DPS): Hypercarry DPS.
  • Sunday (Support): Energy and turn advancement.
  • Bronya (Support): Additional turn advancement and buffs.
  • Luocha (Healer): Healing and energy regen.

High-speed continuous damage setup.

Gameplay Flow

  1. Sunday opens with Skill on the DPS to give them a turn and buff
  2. DPS acts and uses their ult
  3. Sunday uses Ultimate to top off their energy and apply Beatified for Crit DMG
  4. DPS gets a second turn from Skill plus buff synergy
  5. Rotation repeats, with Hymn stacks and Crit DMG keeps climbing

Pro tip: tune Sunday to be exactly 1 SPD slower than your DPS. This ensures he acts just after, giving them two turns in a row for insane burst cycles.

Eidolons Worth Getting

Sunday’s Eidolons are the cherry on top:

  • E1 adds DEF penetration and boosts summoned Crit DMG
  • E2 recovers SP and increases Beatified strength
  • E4 gives passive energy regen at turn start
  • E6 adds Crit Rate stacks from ult and elite scaling

Even E1 gives a solid early game bump.

Final Take

Sunday is exactly the kind of support build worth dropping resources on. He aligns perfectly with summon and hypercarry teams, gives insane rotation control, Crit DMG support, and is SP-neutral. If you missed him last time, now is your chance.
