The Honkai Star Rail Version 3.4 Special Program, titled For the Sun is Set to Die, just wrapped up today, and it delivered. From a major crossover to long-awaited quality of life updates, this livestream packed a lot into an hour-long runtime. Here is everything you need to know if you missed it.
When It Aired and What’s Coming
The 3.4 livestream premiered on June 20, 2025, through the official Twitch and YouTube channels. The update goes live on July 2, and the Fate stay night collaboration begins on July 11. Whether you are logging in for new story content, characters, or gameplay features, this patch is loaded.
New Story Chapter and Region
The update continues the Amphoreus arc with a new Trailblaze Mission called For the Sun is Set to Die. A brand new zone, Aedes Elysiae, will open up. This is Phainon’s home village and it looks like one of the most lore-heavy and atmospheric areas we have seen in a while. Expect more exploration, deep character development, and Aeon lore tying into Phainon’s story.
The Penacony Holy Grail War Event
On top of the Amphoreus arc, the livestream revealed a special crossover event set in Penacony called Sweet Dreams and the Holy Grail War. Eight guests including the Trailblazer, Aventurine, Boothill, and Robin will take part in a Grail War style entertainment competition alongside Heroic Spirits Saber, Archer and Lancer. It all kicks off on July 11 and promises dramatic battles and surprising story beats.
New Characters and the Fate stay night Collab
We are getting three five star characters this patch. First is Phainon, a Physical Destruction unit debuting on July 2. Following him is the game’s first major crossover. On July 11, Fate stay night joins the universe with two massive character additions: Saber, a Wind character, and Archer, a Quantum unit.
Saber and Archer come with completely original designs, custom Light Cones, and new animations. Saber’s Light Cone is called A Thankless Coronation, while Archer’s is The Hell Where Ideals Burn. Even better, Archer will be completely free through a limited time login bonus during the collab event.
Banners and Light Cones
In Phase One (July 2 to July 23), Phainon will be the featured character, along with reruns for Tribbie, Sparkle, and Sunday. His signature Light Cone, Thus Burns the Dawn, will be available in the Light Cone banner.
The Fate stay night banners will begin on July 11. Saber and Archer will each have their own banners and exclusive Light Cones. This is the first time we have seen external IP characters in Star Rail, and the devs clearly went all in on it.
Phase Two (July 23 to August 12) will include reruns for Firefly, Blade, and Jingliu along with their Light Cones. It is a great time to pull if you missed them the first time around.
Quality of Life Updates
The devs finally addressed one of the most requested features. Players can now skip dialogue in story missions and view clean summaries instead. This is a massive change that makes it easier to replay story arcs or move through new quests quickly on alt accounts or reruns.
They are also improving menus and interface clarity, particularly for artifact farming and character management. These are small changes but they make a big difference.
Events, Skins, and Rewards
Two major events are coming. First is the return of Origami Bird Clash, a fun mini game event for rewards. More importantly, the aforementioned Fate collaboration includes a limited time event called Sweet Dreams and the Holy Grail, which will give players access to free items, upgrade materials, and Archer.
A new skin is also being released. Firefly gets a costume called Spring Missive, which will be available in the shop for 1350 Oneiric Shards. The design has a polished, ceremonial look and is completely different from her base outfit.
Character Buffs
Four characters are receiving updates in version 3.4: Blade, Kafka, Jingliu, and Silver Wolf. These are not full reworks, but targeted buffs to bring them in line with current meta teams. We will have to wait for the patch notes to see exact changes, but it is great to see HoYoverse adjusting older units.
Livestream Codes (Still Active)
Here are the codes revealed during the livestream. They expire on June 21 around 11 AM Eastern, so claim them fast:
- FTJ6CVTULSXP – 100 Stellar Jade and 50000 Credits

Final Thoughts
Version 3.4 is one of the strongest patches we have seen in a long time. It brings a massive crossover event, long overdue quality of life features, a unique new region, and a great mix of new and returning characters. Whether you are excited for Saber and Archer or just happy to see dialogue skip added, this update is for you.
