The Zenless Zone Zero 1.7 livestream just dropped a few days ago, and it’s safe to say we’ve got a lot to look forward to. Titled Bury Your Tears with the Past, this update is packed with fresh content, including new Agents, banner reruns, story developments, events, and even some adorable new Bangboos. The update goes live on April 23, 2025, so let’s break down everything coming our way.

New Agents: Vivian and Hugo

Let’s start with the stars of the show—Vivian and Hugo. Vivian is an Ether Anomaly user who fights with a rapier and parasol combo (yes, she’s as stylish as she sounds). She excels in both ground and aerial combat, which should make her a blast to play. Hugo, on the other hand, brings a cool Ice Attack kit to the table. He wields a transforming suitcase that turns into a giant scythe, perfect for sweeping through groups of enemies. Their designs are slick, and their kits look promising, especially for players looking to spice up their team comps.

Banner Schedule

Here’s how the banner schedule looks:

Phase 1 (April 23 – May 14):

• Vivian (S-Rank debut)
• Jane Doe (S-Rank rerun)
• Piper and Seth (A-Ranks)

Phase 2 (May 14 – June 3):

• Hugo (S-Rank debut)
• Lighter (S-Rank rerun)
• Soukaku and Anton (A-Ranks)

Honestly, there’s a lot to love here. I’m personally aiming for Hugo and Lighter—they just look too cool to pass up. I’m free-to-play, though, so I’ve been doing my usual F2P hustle: grabbing every Polychrome I can from dailies, events, codes, you name it. Gonna be tight, but I’m hoping I can get them both.

Story Update: Bury Your Tears With the Past

The story is also getting a big update. Bury Your Tears With the Past continues the main narrative, bringing Mockingbird’s mysterious backstory into focus. We’re also seeing the Sacrifice crisis arc come to a close, which should wrap up some long-standing questions while setting the stage for the next chapter in New Eridu.

Events Galore

Of course, what’s a new version without events? 1.7 is loaded. Here’s what’s coming:

• Say It With Flowers – Help Orchidea with her flower shop.
• Bangboo Bash – Play mini-games featuring the Bangboos.
• A Tale Through The Looking Glass – A more narrative-driven experience.
• Springtime Snapshots – Photo-taking challenges around New Eridu.
• Savor the Flavor: Citywide Delivery – Fast-paced food delivery event.
• Routine Cleanup & Data Bounty – Mission-style content with solid rewards.

That’s a lot of variety, and plenty of ways to stock up on rewards and resources.

New W-Engines

Two new W-Engines are coming in 1.7:

• Flight of Fancy – Vivian’s signature weapon.
• Myriad Eclipse – Hugo’s signature scythe suitcase.

If you’re planning to pull for either of the new Agents, their signature W-Engines are probably worth going for too.

New Bangboos

We’re also getting two new Bangboos:

• Robin (S-Rank): A stylish new support unit.
• Overtimeboo (A-Rank): Probably the most relatable Bangboo ever—constantly working overtime.

They’re cute, functional, and add even more personality to your squad.
